Speaking From The Heart On Saturday

Dear friends, the Mommy here.  I think all of us are quite shocked and horrified at the events that unfolded Friday in Newton, CT.  We are sending lots of prayers of comfort and universal light to those who are hurting.

This touches my heart so closely because I too, am a survivor of violent crime. (home invasion-double homicide-story for another time)   One of those poor  souls left behind, wondering how to put life back together again.  Get up the next day.  Function.   A victim of the media, the judicial system, and just plain old ignorance.

Please, please, keep these people in your thoughts and prayers, not just today, tomorrow, but always.  Their lives are irrevocably changed.  National Victims' Rights Week is held in April every year. Learn what you can do and I can't say enough about educating yourself about your state's laws.  Be an advocate for survivors of violent crimes.  You never know when it will affect your life or the life of someone you love.

Peace, love, and blessings to all our friends.

Pee Ess - Please forgive my faux pas of using Prancer Pie's blog for personal reasons, but they are near and dear to my heart.  Now, here's an old gratuitous kitteh pic:

  6. The neighbor's two sweet girls were over today so Mommy kept them busy and away from the upsetting news by helping decorate our foyer.
Knowing those families were preparing for a happy holiday season and just one horrible moment took it all away...........................

  10. How do you 'recover' or 'move on' ? It is surely important for those who have to speak out and help those who need support now, and the hope that some sort of life is possible afterwards, so no apologies needed for a blog hijack.

We are thinking of those affected by this awful tragedy.

  12. I can't even imagine what it would be like to survive such an unspeakable crime but it sounds as though you do. My heart aches for the families of those who died today.

  13. We're beyond words at what happened yesterday, and beyond words at your own experiences. We can only think what an incredibly strong and courageous person you are--courage being the ability to keep going, shuffling step by shuffling step.

Sending Light out to All who have been affected yesterday and to you as well.

    Peace and Blessings.

  14. We are with you in our sorrow for those who have lost so much. But we also feel a growing fury at the regularity with which these things happen. Gun crime figures in the States are appalling. Isn't it time to really do something about that?

  15. This was another totally senseless act and now so many survivors whose lives will be changed forever. I can't even imagine how one picks up and moves forward. Bless you for having the courage to carry on with your life and to come out that you are a survivor. I agree, gun laws in this country suck. Now it's even worse as we have no concealed weapons law - it's now legal to conceal your weapon anyway - even public places such as parks, etc. Sometimes I'm embarrassed to say I live in this country and this is one of those times.

  17. Blessings and thoughts you and to all victims everywhere .
When mom was a wee girl an armed man broke into her home. Just she and her mom and grandma was home. Grandma heard a noise and found him in the living room going through her purse. She caught him off guard and started beating him on the head and back w something heavy.. Police arrived to find him bleeding profusely in the back yard. He went to prison for life. You are right you never forget an experience like that. To this day mom still agonizes over this home invasions. Mom's said her gma was very very peculiar about folks messing w her purse...which triggered her actions. She was not a big lady but she was fierce about her family and belongings.

  18. You are very courageous Prancer's Mom. Mom and I listened as media hammered some poor doctor about intimate details of the victims being treated I. His hospital, only hours after. Inhuman behavior. We can only imagine what the media would have done to the survivors if they could question them. We may do a post today as well. Mom was an advocate for victims of violent crime Universal light to heal for Newton CT. Paw hugs, Savvy

  20. We are so sorry you had to endure such a horrific event in your life. We cannot even begin to imagine the lifelong effect such a thing can have. Mom just said that very thing, that in some way, everyone in that community has been forever changed. Our hearts and prayers go out to all of them. Hug your loved ones and tell them everyday how much you love them.
