Catio Caturday

Princeton (note the large eyes) through the looking glass.  Ha!

Hi furriends!  It's the Mommy here.   Has this ever happened to you?  Princeton hid in the catio when it was time to come in.  During roll call, he was nowhere to be found, til I opened the window shutter.  His big eyes and expression says it all!  "You left me out all night"  (it was 10 pm),  "I can't believe you did this" , or "You don't really love me" .

We have to have a catio curfew, as we live in an area that we don't really know. (and in a field)  I DO NOT  want a skunk to come up and spray one of the kittehz through the night.  Does anybody else keep certain hours for their catio?   I check on them at least 15 times a day.  (got to get that catio cam installed!)  I'm hoping as the newness wears off, I will get more comfortable with my furbabies having more freedom, as they love it.

Everbody have a great Caturday.  Purrs, y'all.

  1. I WISH I had a catio to get stranded in! But yeah, if we had one, my human would probably wind up moving half her office in there.

  2. Aw, poor Princeton, that is a sad look. Our mama checks on us that much too and some of us are inside only...what's up with that?

    Happy Caturday!

  3. We have access to our catio all day long! Our catio is elevated plus it is within the compounds of our fenced up garden. Mommy does worry about snakes though it's unlikely one would be able to crawl through the tiny steel netting. :)

Maybe you could have some plexiglass fixed to the bottom bit of your catio that's high enough to prevent any possible skunk attack?

  4. Well, we keep our outside time to daylight hours, TBT helps by rattling the treat jar when it gets late. That always gets US running for the door.

  5. I don't have a catio but if I did I know in advance there would be hours! Mom is fiercely protective of me. She'd allow me out there for some hours in the day if we had a catio (I wish!) but never after late afternoon..twilight at the most.

  6. Hehehe - we know that look! Oh yes indeedy. And we use it whenever we can. Especially when it is cold out and we have no food. However it doesn't happen often as we are enticed in with treats if the catio flap is closed. Usually Äiti does a strict headcount of who is in and out every few hours, and catiocam does help - but we can still hide under the tarps. Then all she has to do is fetch a bag of Dreamies..... Äiti says she was really worried about us at first but we don't have stinky skunks here so that wasn't a worry at least. Pleaxiglass sounds like a great idea for that. Now when the weather is warm enough we do have 24/7 access. When it gets darker and colder then we are only out during daylight hours - Äiti hates searching for us in the dark!

  7. We are free to come and go as we wish during the day but the cat flap is closed when it starts to get dark - there is a cat somewhere near us - we don't know exactly where but he likes to steal any food Mum has left down for us to graze on so now at dusk we are prisoners.

  8. Mama no had a catio, but when Hatfield was younger he had a curfew of 10 pm and for some reasons he always came home for the night around that time. A few times he no camed home until much later and mama slept by the door waiting for him! then he got grounded. hehehehe

  11. We wish we had a catio that we could get lost in. Though we wouldn't want to get sprayed by some stoopid skunk.

  12. Yep. When the weather is good enough for cats to be out in the run, it's open only between when everyone is up in the morning until just before it gets dark, exceptionally a little into the night at the height of summer. The flap is set to only work coming back into the house (it has to be taped open during daylight hours as Queen Tama refuses to use it...).

  13. Princeton really looks alarmed at staying out late, like a kid who thinks he wants to stay up late but then finds it lonely or not all that great after all, poor guy. I wish we had a catio for the kitties. I don't know how secure yours is from outsiders. I totally understand the vigilant checking on them. I would be the same way and then yes, bring them at least at sunset.

  14. We don't have a catio, we are not cats:) But Mom has to do a head count every time she goes to bed or leaves the house to be sure we are all inside. We get really lucky because she does her head count with a small treat for each of us. She knows that way we will all show up for the attendance check:)

    Happy weekend.

  16. ummm...so sorry Princeton that you were forgotten like an old shoe tossed to the curb...sigh...nice look...purrfect for the guilt trip. Now about the catio...one, I don't have one...two, probably never will cuz Dad doesn't do stuff like that, three, Mom would like me to have one...but she would never let me be out there alone...I am an "attack" cat whenever any other animal comes near our windows or doors...I scare the heck out of Mom...heh...heh

  17. I go out on the patio sometimes. It has screens all around it. I like to watch Dad feed the fish. :)

  18. No catio for us to stay out all night in. We guess if we had one, only daylight hours.

  19. We don't have a Catio, the cats are allowed outside during the day. We do keep tabs on them and they are not allowed out after supper. But we do have coyotes and we do live on a river so they are WATCHED!

  21. We would LOVE to have that problem for mom to worry about! And oh yes, she would worry.

  22. Mom makes us have a curfew 'cause we have a mean ole raccoon who climbs the screen to the top deck, comes down the stairs and eats our foods (if Mom or Dad forget to bring them in the house). He comes even if the foods are in the house 'cause he doesn't know that. One morning she let us out and the raccoon was still there. Very scary. Best to be safe. 23. We love that you have a catio now! We have a big dog tent that we get to go out on when the weather is nice...which should be soon!

Teri is scared of critters out there too and so we only get to go out on the upper deck so not varmints can get to us!
