Blooms on the ground |
Hi kittehz! Doesn't the above pic look like popped popcorn on the grass?
It's not. It's flowers from a Catalpa tree.
These trees get large, very fast and this one is huge and old.
This fall the catalpas will produce large flat bean pods.
Did we mention that this pawticular catalpa tree is located in an old cemetery?
(The Mom was out in the country putting flowers on her great grandparents' graves.)
Mommy loves old cemeteries and doesn't find them creepy at all.
She's weird like that.
There were still lots of flowers on the tree, too.
It was almost like snow falling when the wind blew through the branches.
Mommy just realized she didn't get any pics of the actual tree.
Bwahaha!
Now, for your gratuitous kitty pic:
Me!
PRESLEE |
Happy Flowery Friday furriends!
Purrs, y'all.
Pee Ess - we are all ok after the tornado outbreak and nasty weather. It was located well to the west of us. We do have wicked weather around until early next week, though. **sighs**
Pretty flowers!
ReplyDeleteMy momma likes old cemeteries too - one of the things she liked bout livin in Bawston for law school wuz seein da really old gravestones.
Lovely snows! Äiti likes cemeteries too - she used to go to Highgate in London where many famous people were buried and the stones were really really old.
ReplyDeleteAnd we love the kitteh shot - of course.
By the way - we do not do candles and soothing music at bath time - we rely on the Song of Our People for aural comfort. Not that it happens often - Sir Stinkalot is much less smelly at the moment.
My human likes old cemeteries too! In fact, she especially enjoys the one in Hollywood where a lot of the silent film stars are buried. I wish I could go, but I don't think they allow kitties. Paws crossed that you stay safe with all that nasty Midwestern weather!
ReplyDeleteFlowers from annywhere are bootiful!
ReplyDeleteWe love those pretty flowers :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are all OK too.
Those tornadoes sound very scary!
Purrs Georgia and Julie,
Treasure and JJ
The flowers really do like popcorn. Very pretty. Glad you guys are safe and sound and were away from the tornados.
ReplyDeleteIt must have been a strong wind to blow all those little flowers off the tree.
ReplyDeleteLuv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
That sure does look like a popcorn tree!
ReplyDeleteYou brought back memories for Mommy! There were catalpa trees on her walk route in her old neighborhood!

ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful flowers. Our Mom likes taking photos in old cemeteries, the headstones are very touching. Very good photo of you Preslee
Keep safe gang. Oh, popcorn, I'm hurgry!
ReplyDeleteThose flowers in the grass is gorgeous. And my mommy likes old graveyards too. As a matter of fact, she was out visiting with her Great-Aunt Helen and her Great Gramma Jesse this last week!

Someone much farther down our street has a couple catalpa trees at the end of their driveway. They seriously cut back the trees this year. We enjoy seeing the bean pods on the trees, too, but think they must be a nuisance.
ReplyDeleteThis human also loves graveyards, too.I don't care much for the ones with the in-ground markers, though.
Glad the bad weather stayed away - we too are under the radar for this weekend.
ReplyDeleteThose flowers do look a lot like snowflakes - sigh, we miss winter and the snow we didn't get:(
Woos - Ciara and Lightning
Pawkisses for a flowery Weekend :) <3
ReplyDeleteLove that popcorn tree!!!!
ReplyDelete(And our mom loves cemeteries too! She loves how peaceful they are!)
Those flowers look pretty. My mum is another one who likes graveyards too. She likes to read the old headstones.
ReplyDeleteI love old graveyards too :) Beautiful flowers!!!
ReplyDeleteThe lady loves old graveyards and there are quite a few here in PA. That graveyard is beautiful, especially with all the flowers.
ReplyDeleteWhen we were living in TX making plans to move to PA, the lady & big guy were originally going to drive with me. To get me ready, they took me out on car rides and we went to a cemetery (I was on a harness) because it was the one place where nobody was.
We're glad everything is ok there weather-wise and hope no tornadoes come near you (or anyone else) this season.
Preslee, you're looking cute!
