PRANCER PIE

Mommy can't believe she has made it an entire week since her little man went OTRB.  We won't lie furriends, it hasn't been pretty.  Mommy is pretty much a snot factory.   This is how it's gonna be for her, one day at a time.  This weekend is his debut on the CB calendar, that brought about a whole new set of waterworks for her.  Thank you efurryone, for all the sweet words, thoughts, purrs, purrayers, donations, cards, emails, etc.  Each and every one makes us feel special.

Prancer Pie Update

From the Mommy:   Mommy's little mancat passed today at 1:45 while I held him in my arms.  I didn't feel like even typing out the words.  I am beyond devastated and can't imagine my life without Prancer Pie.  I will get back to blogging, but now Precious, Princeton, the Daddy and I, need to pull ourselves together.

We are so touched by the outpouring of love and friendship and I will get around to visiting and thanking everyone.

PRANCER PIE - Mommy's Little Man

Prancer Pie Update

Prancer Pie Update:  4:10 p.m., CST, I saw the Vet at 3:15 and he was impressed with what the fluids had done for Prancer.  He saw a big change in his demeanor.  Unfortunately his heart rate is still too high and he still has diarrhea.  We are changing his food and this is only his second day of Forti Flora.  We took a blood test and is now thinking we may be battling a secondary problem (IBD?)  He had several encouraging paths to try today.  I am getting a second opinion and checking with our local ( several hrs away) teaching vet hospital.  We check in tomorrow for test results and check in Saturday to see if he needs fluids for the weekend.  I think we've got everything covered.

I got to bring him home and he purred and talked the whole way.  Upon arriving home, he went to hide in his favorite closet.  He thinks his leg is broke from the wrap from the IV.  I get to remove it in a couple of hours.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the well wishes, purrs, and ideas.

Prancer Pie Update

Prancer Pie Update:  8:30 a.m. CST, I just talked to our Vet and he said Prancer Pie was perkier this morning, but stilll had diarrhea and his heart rate is still too high.  It is actually twice what it should be.  **sighs**  He told me that hyperthyroid kittehz tend to have these problems and on average live about two years after diagnosis.  Prancer Pie was diagnosed two years ago.  Any of our CB furriends have thoughts on this?  I had no idea and was devastated last night when told this.  I just thought it was a chronic problem.  We still have a 3:15 appt. and he want to continue giving him fluids until then.  He actually brought up terms such as "quality of life" and "knowing when to let go".  I actually cried myself to sleep last night/this morning.  Sorry for rambling and will update this afternoon.

Pee Ess - in other news, pray for Princeton because he has already tore all the tissue out of a tissue box I was using last night and it is far too cold here today to open the catio!

Thoughtful Thursday

Update:  12:00  a.m. CST, Prancer Pie was admitted to our local vet hospital, dehydrated and with rapid heartbeat.   The Mommy is taking a valium and going to bed. She will checking in on him at 8:00 a.m.  Update then.   XOXO

PRINCETON'S PROFILE

Hi furriends, Princeton here.  Mommy would like efurrybody who has any experience or knows anybody with any experience with that dreaded Convenia injection to please send her any info they have.  She's Googled herself sillly, but there is limited info out there.  It really bugs us that he seemed to rally about a week after the shot, then about ten days post injection, he picked up the upset tummy and started hiding again.

Prancer seems to be holding his own at this point, but he is so very ill, Mommy is a nervous wreck.  She is force-feeding, giving Forti-flora, anti-diarrheal, and trying not to bug him too much.  He has a check-up at the Vet tomorrow at 3:15.  Thank you in advance for the purrs.  They mean so much.

PRANCER PIE

Hi furriends, it's me, Prancer Pie.  Daddy sneaked in on me and took a fast pic.  I was up in the peep's bed, gettin my easy on.  I had a great Friday, so the peeps went out for a few hours Saturday.  Sunday I didn't eat much at all and I'm staying hid out  again.  Mommy hopes this is just a case of lazy day or a little setback.  She says you can't be as sick as I was then just rebound in a few days.

Looks like I'm going to keep getting special treatment around here for a while, kittehz, so I might as well enjoy it.

Caturday Chow-Fest

Hi furriends, it's me, Prancer Pie!  I wanna thank efurrybody for those encouraging words and purrs.  Remember yesterday when I made the Mommy's day by licking her finger?  She's pretty much over the moon, now.  All day Friday I ate!  Small amounts, but I came to the counter to eat 5 different times!  I also climbed up on my Mommy's chest and lay down.  Mommy teared up because she missed that more than anything.  I know I've got a ways to go, but I will get there with a little help from my furriends.

PRANCER PIE UPDATE

From the Mommy:  Noonish on Thursday, I dragged Prancer Pie out of the closet for a feeding.  I always offer him something to eat on his own, at first.  He sniffed it appreciatively, but didn't eat. So, I opened a jar of plain ham baby food and offered it off my finger.  He licked 4 or 5 fingers of baby food off!!! (I got so excited, I forgot to count)  Yay!  I know this is a baby step, but I'll take it!  I still supplemented him with his AD prescription wet food by syringe in the mouth.

Our Vet checked in this morning before Prancer Pie ate.  I can't wait to talk to him later!

Thanks for those purrs and purrayers.  They're working!

Thursday's IPad Thumpin

Hi furriends, it's me Princeton.  I've been caught tryin to blog from the Daddy's work IPad.  He was less than thrilled, but I really enjoy that thing.  It's got some really nice chewy durable rubber around the edge.  I turned around and gave him the laser eyes for taking it away from me.  MOL!

Now for the Prancer Pie Update:  Mommy is still dragging him out of the closet (his current hiding place) and force feeding him prescription AD by Science Diet.  It's gooshy wet food and he is using the litter box and drinking water.  Mommy got a whole can down him in the last 24 hrs!  She goes on and on about how beautiful his furs are with all this extra stuff he is getting in his diet.  Pffft!
Thanks for the continued purrs.  Prancer Pie and Mommy are hangin in there.

Wordless Wednesday & Prancer Pie Update

From the Mommy:  Prancer Pie remains the same, but I'm force feeding him Science Diet AD prescription cat food.  I call the Vet tomorrow to check in.  At least he's getting real food and calories now.  Maybe that will help.  It's been 24 hrs since we started him on it.  Keeping our paws crossed.  I'm gonna pull out the "big guns" and bring home some KFC chicken later this week.

Tuxie Tuesday And Prancer Pie Update

Heh-heh, you think I just had ONE measly heatie lamp?!?  Mommy fixed this little spot up for me when it got really cold here and/or Princeton was under the one on the couch.  Now it's warm and breezy again and I still have a prime fleece bed and my very own private bowl of kibble.  Life is good kittehz!

This is just more proof that TUXIES RULE!  Happy Tuxie Tuesday and purrs, ya'll.

PRANCER PIE UPDATE:  Prancer Pie and I went to the V-E-T again today. (third time is a charm, right?)  We are just dealing with appetite issues and hiding out.(no fever, healed abscess) Thanks to our CB furriends, it was brought to our attention that some kittehz do not respond well to Convenia injections.  Prancer had a shot of it last Monday.  He did this is April of 2012 too.  His record shows he received a shot of it then, too.  Vet has called Pfizer and reported this.  There is now a note on his record that he does NOT ever receive it again.  Thank you for the continued purrs and support.  Prancer is now on prescription Science Diet cat food.  I'm force feeding him a can of it a day. (paws crossed)

We're Back & Prancer Pie Update

From the Mommy:  Our internet service was out all of Sunday due to inclement weather.   The daughter posted on the CWB page for me.

Now for the update.  Prancer Pie might be a tad better.  Keeping everything crossed here today.  He has been moving around more and actually sniffed some cat food. (yes, that's an improvement)
Will be talking with Vet today to make sure he is getting what he needs.

Holdin Down The Fort On Sunday and Prancer Pie Update

Hi furriends, Princeton here.  I'm sittin on the Daddy's head holdin down the fort (for my non-American furriends that means I'm takin care of things while the Prancer Pie is sick) here on this Sunday.  It's a tough job of snoozin, snackin, and snoozin some more, but some kitteh has to do it!

PRANCER PIE UPDATE:  Prancer has retreated to UTB finally.  *sigh*  He has come out on his own 4 or 5 times today to drink and look around.  Saturday evening we finally got another dose of Nutri Cal stuff in him.  We're pretty sure he has kept it down.  He's drinking lots of water and still has the energy to jump to the faucets which we leave dripping for him.  

Mommy is hanging in there too, thanks to all the well wishes and big purrs coming in.  We know Prancer Pie feels it too.  Thank you.  XOXO

Prancer Pie Update

Hello efurrybody.  I am still sick.  I threw up my meds earlier today.  I have kept the Nutri Cal stuff down and am drinking lots of water.  I have been on my catio for a short time, too.  My abcsess is totally healed up and looks great.  My Mommy is thinking that I may have an adverse reaction to a medicine and that is what keeps me from eating. (thanks for the heads-up)  She will be checking into this at great length.

Thank you for the great tips, we are trying each and everyone.  The huge amount of purrs help, too.

Mommy says if I don't rally, she will be forced to let the vet keep me and I don't think her human Doc has enough meds for her if that happens!

Prancer Pie Update

The Mommy:  Prancer Pie has not eaten anything today.  This morning I started him on GNC's formula for Nutri-Cal. (2x a day)  He has also started a new course of antibiotics today.  One dose a day.  (Prancer did bite through my cuticle on my finger this morning.  Still strong.)

I opened the catio because it was 57 degrees Fahrenheit.  He eagerly went out twice.  The second time I made him come in before I had to run an errand.  He talked to me quite a bit about it.  

After about 5 this evening, he retired to the bottom of the cat tree.  He is alert and he is bright-eyed.  Just no appetite and of course, lethargy.  

The kind words and purrs are keeping us going.  Thank you so much.

Feelin Fresh On Friday & Prancer Pie Update

Princeton here, I finally get to be back in a post!  I have pestered the Mommy relentlessly this week.  I'm just trying to help ease her worries about Prancer Pie.  Heh-Heh.

The Mommy - Prancer Pie has not done well today at all. Yesterday he did so well!  His abscess is healing, but he continues to turn up his nose at food.  He's drinking water, but has been hiding out all day long.  I thought we were over the hump, but I'll be contacting the V-E-T again today.  He had told me earlier this week that if he wasn't well by Friday, he's changing his aunty-biotics.  At least Prancer Pie is resting.  I am a worried wreck.  We'll update on any changes.  Thank you for the purrs and kind thoughts.

Thoughtful and Thankful Thursday

Just to prove that things are slowly returning to normal around here I decided to have a nap on the couch and show a little fang.

My blood test results were:  elevated white counts due to the abcsess, my nasty thyroid problem needed slight meds adjustment, and liver and kidneys are purrfect!

I have eat some, drank lots, and made a poo!  (Mommy is nutso about my bathroom habits, what a perv!)

We are thankful this Thursday for my health and for the thoughtfulness of our furriends.

Wednesday's Bum Wrap

Prancer Pie 

Hi furriends!  We are truly blessed with lots of furriends who have been purring  for me.
Here's the update:  Mommy found a walnut-sized abscess on my anal gland Tuesday around noon.  She whisked me away for an emergency visit to the dreaded V-E-T.  He says that this is obviously the cause for my fever and general malaise. Duh, obviously!  (We are still waiting on that blood test to see if my thyroid meds need adjusting.)

It was able to be drained without surgery. Whew!  But, my bum is really sore.  Luckily I was already on the right course of aunty-biotics, too.  The V-E-T says I should be right as rain in a few days, if not, we'll switch medicines.  I'm eating and drinking again, too.

Sorry the the crappy pic, but Mommy won't antagonize me with the flashy box while I'm sickly. Thank Cod!

Toesday

Prancer Pie's toesies.

From the Mommy - *I loves these toes.*   Prancer Pie went to the vet because he was off his food.  He has lost nearly a pound in 6 months, also. (Maybe his thyroid?)   The vet says he really thinks PP has a little flu bug, but stole bloods just to be sure.  We'll get those test results back on Wednesday.

We sincerely appreciate all the purrs and pawsitive thoughts.

Menacing Mancat Monday

Princeton, The Trubble Maker

It's official.  I have cabin fever.  Mommy says all our furriends should light a candle for me.  I'm in big Trouble. (you notice that it had a capital "T")  Here's a rundown of the offences.

1. At 5:55 in the a.m., it is alleged that I started a brawl (with Chi Chi)  in the bed, while on top of the Mommy.  Pfft.
2. I terrorized Precious relentlessly. All day.
3. I stole foods from the other kittehz.  Repeatedly.  This is a no-no.
4. I ran Prancer Pie off his food.  Twice.  This is a big no-no.
5. Mommy finally brought out Angel Princess' heated bed and I promptly peed it.
6. I also learned a new trick this weekend.  Opening doorknobs!  Heh-heh, nothing is safe from me now!  (not even Mommy in the little potty room!)
7. There was also a shower incident which no one is talking about.  It involved a wet shower, lots of kitteh litter and a bottle of shampoo.  MOL!

Mommy is distraught that the weather won't be fit for catio time until Tuesday.  The wind chills here are in the negative numbers and we aren't used to that. Until then, send pawsitive thoughts, please.

Not to worry, Mommy still loves me and cuddled me tonight and pleaded with me to be a good boy.  HahaMeow!  Life is good, kittehz.
